Caregiver Support
VON provides information, emotional support and education to family caregivers. Participants gain hope and insight through the experiences of other caregivers and build a network of support. Guest speakers are brought in, from time to time, to assist with educational information.
Caregiver Education
VON Tri-County provides education in the community to caregivers on various topics such as dementia care and practical skills. Contact the VON office today to enquire about the schedule of these educational opportunities.
Adult Day Program
This program provides a form of respite for caregivers. It also provides increased social interaction in a population who is lonely or isolated. The program is coordinated by a VON staff and is supported by VON volunteers. This program takes place on Thursdays at the HOPE Centre, 18 Bond Street, Yarmouth. The morning program is from 9:30am-12:00pm and the afternoon program is from 1:30pm-4:00pm. For more information on how to get involved or on the fees associated with this program please contact VON Tri-County at 902-742-4512 ext. 0.
"Friendly Companion" Transportation
This is a VON Community Support (non-nursing) program offering accompaniment and transportation in Yarmouth & Yarmouth County areas. If you are frail, or have a physical impairment affecting your ability to perform regular activities of daily living, you may qualify for this program. Should you qualify, a volunteer companion will transport and accompany you to a pre-planned, non-emergency outing. These services are offered Monday through Friday.
