Description & Services
Information
Help us end the cycle of pet reproduction, homelessness and unwanted cats in the Yarmouth area.
Operation Cat SNIP a Registered Canadian Charity under the Canada Revenue Agency's Income Tax Act. With the privileges of charitable status we issue charitable receipts for income tax purposes to those individuals who make us a personal monetary gift.
We were formed by a small group of concerned volunteers trying to address the exploding cat population problem in our community. Our hope is to work with local veterinarians, pet owners and caring citizens, to raise funds in order to provide low or no-cost spaying and neutering surgeries to Yarmouth area cats.
Our intention is to target cats owned by people on fixed and low income - cats who normally would not have access to veterinary care due to the economic circumstances of their owners. We hope to arrange regular Spay Days or at least spay times, and have as many cats spayed or neutered as we are financially able. As you well know, in most cases, it is the intact cats discarded and abandoned to the outdoors that adds to the unwanted cat population and continues the cycle of breeding, starvation and ultimately death.
It is estimated that there are thousands of feral and unwanted cats in the Yarmouth area. We all know our municipal units recognize the necessity of spaying and neutering but they as yet have not addressed the problem. We look forward to opening a dialogue with the three municipal units in our area to request funding of our organization or at least grants for financial assistance. We hope to see public awareness of Operation Cat SNIP as an opportunity for public education as well.
All monies raised stay locally in the Yarmouth area and will be used directly for the spay/neuter "snip" of local felines.
Join us with membership, volunteerism or your contribution.
