Coaching Nova Scotia is a new portal dedicated to providing information about the training, education and development of coaches across the province. Every child involved in sport in Nova Scotia will benefit from the guidance of a coach/leader/instructor that has been trained or certified appropriately and this site aims to provide information and links to enable coaches to reach this goal.
Over the past few years, the coaching landscape across the country has changed significantly. The new National Coaching Certification Program (NCCP) has brought with it a “competency based” approach to coaching and allowed sports to incorporate theory modules into their existing technical programs. Sports have also modified their coaching pathway to align with the Canada Sport for Life’s (CS4L) Long Term Athlete Development model (LTAD). New modules have also been built to provide appropriate courses for coaches working at the grassroots community level.
This site will enable coaches to better navigate coaching opportunities across the province. The calendar will provide a quick and easy method for coaches to seek out and register for coaching courses being offered throughout the province.
