Spring is here and it’s time to get out your bicycle and go for a spin! Biking is a great way to stay active, see new things and have fun. Whether you are a beginner or an experienced biker we’ve got something for you during Bike Week May 23rd-31st. All events are FREE and there are lots of great prizes to be won. Events include:
May 23rd-RCMP Bike Rodeo at SRHS 1-2pm. For children 4-12 years old to learn the rules of the road, test their bike skills and get tips on staying safe. All participants must bring their own bike & helmet.
May 25th-29th-Commuter Challenge-Bike (or walk) to work, school, to run an errand, or visit a friend during the week and enter your name into daily prize draws. To enter call 902-875-2831, email community.srhs@tcrsb.ca or Facebook “Keep Moving”.
May 30th-Join MDS Councillor Norm Wallet for the 6th Annual Sandy Point-Jordan Bay Bike Ride 9am at SRHS. Multiple route options are available for both short and long distance riders including 10km, 20km or 36km routes. Perfect for a fun family bike ride or for more experienced bikers looking for a challenge. No matter the reason, we guarantee that you’ll enjoy the view! A shuttle back from the Sandy Point Community Centre is available for the 10km bike ride. Please pre-register, if using the shuttle service.
May 31st- Bike Safety & Skills Clinic for Women 9am-3pm at SRHS. This women-only bike clinic will focus on bicycle basics, bike maintenance and safety. Participants must bring a bike (in good working order), a helmet and lunch. Light refreshments will be provided. Must pre-register. Instructed by Nancy Hipinstall, a certified CAN-BIKE Instructor.
