'Nakile' is a native name meaning sunset. The name was chosen by Oscar Nauss, a local historian, to reflect the nature of the Home. 
 
Nakile opened its doors in December 1989, as a 36-bed facility. In 2015, a new wing was opened, bringing our total capacity to 47 permanent beds and one respite bed (for persons seeking a short-term stay). We recognize the special needs of the elderly population and work toward providing quality care to all persons living at Nakile. 
 
Family and friends are encouraged to visit at any time.  
 
 
 
We have plenty of volunteer opportunities available! 
 
You can spend a few hours a week – or a few hours a month – sharing your hobbies and interests. Here are some of the ways you can contribute: 
 
Assist with recreational programs, activities, outings and special events 
Read an interesting story – or listen to one! 
Assist with spiritual activities – such as Bible reading 
Take a walk or have a game of cards 
Assist with mending and sewing 
Tend an outdoor garden or care for indoor plants 
Share your hobby, art, talent or craft 
Play an instrument
