Description & Services
Information
The Chester Art Centre was founded in April 2007 by artists and art lovers with a desire to bring art to the community. The Centre is located in the picturesque seaside village of Chester, Nova Scotia.
Our vision is to create an imaginative, dynamic, and more vibrant community.
The Centre offers a varied and experiential range of classes and workshops for children and adults in a classic Chester cottage, which features a main floor exhibition/classroom space and a backyard that is terrific for events, art and picnics.
The Centre features new exhibitions monthly in our Gallery at 60 Queen Street, open from 10am-4pm Wednesday to Sunday and by chance. Every summer the Centre host a two-day experiential festival with a new theme that is sure to delight all ages of visitors.
We believe strongly in community cooperation and collaboration and have successfully partnered with the Recreation Department of the Municipality of Chester, the Chester Merchants Association, the Chester Municipal Heritage Society, the Chester Garden Club, Ross Farm Museum, the Chester Playhouse, the Schools in our community and more.
We finance the Art Centre and our educational efforts through art classes, lectures, and the generous contributions of supporters, sponsors and various government programs.
Classes in Rug Hooking, Painting, Photography, Story Writing, and more! Check out our website for more information on upcoming classes!
