The School Board is a body of elected and appointed representatives responsible for providing a governance framework including policies and structures to define direction and parameters within which the system can be professionally managed by the Superintendent and Staff. Specific responsibilities of a School Board are established under the Education Act. 
 
Briefly, the School Board's role includes: 
 
Setting a vision: annual business plan 
Providing structure: school review, policies and the annual budget 
Advocating for all students and schools in the SSRSB 
Directing families to appropriate Staff for the management of issues regarding school matters. 
Ensuring accountability through the Superintendent
