Mark your calendars for the last three weekends in August for live music on the Yarmouth waterfront. The Coal Shed Music Festival is a summer music event created as a fundraiser for the Yarmouth Food Bank. 
Begun in 2007, the Coal Shed Music Festival has become the musical event of the summer. It has grown over the years from a strictly local event to a festival that now attracts national and international musicians, boasting over 200 performers over the nine days and nights of performances. 
 
Admission is free except for a donation to the food bank and school breakfast programs.  
 
There are many local musicians hailing from Yarmouth, Digby and Shelburne counties, as well as a growing number of acts from elsewhere, many with roots in Southwest Nova Scotia.  
 
Music genres represented include everything from blues to rock to country, folk, gospel, alternative, and much more.
