Description & Services

Information
The Whitecaps swim club is a cooperative volunteer organization whose standards of conduct are commensurate with those of the YMCA. It is available to most children and young adults who want it to pursue it as an athletic opportunity. They must be willing to strive to achieve team goals.

Swimming Natation Canada (SNC) embraces the goals of enhancing the physical, social, and psychological well being of the individual athlete. Coaches affiliated with SNC and CSCTA (Canadian Swim Coaches and Teachers Association) endeavor to respect the rights, dignity, and self worth of every human being and their ultimate right to self- determination. Ginny Smith Head Coach. Assistants Jen Hood, Bobby Lou Reardon and Michael Carbonell.

Whitecaps aspire to be the best that they can be, regardless of innate talent. Each Whitecap should realize that the goal for excellence is attainable for all. The program is holistic. The Whitecaps and coaches will endeavor to improve all aspects of the athlete’s academic, social, moral, emotional and physical life. The Whitecaps have one of the best fitness programs in town. They are expected, therefore, to get their schoolwork done well, cooperate with their parents, and set attainable goals for their swimming future.

The program is wholesome, both physically and emotionally. The Whitecaps learn to be comfortable with their sexuality, which comes from the two genders training side by side. Whitecaps are expected to become intrinsically motivated, to develop a high level of sportsmanship, and to have pride in their affiliation and their accomplishments.

Swimmers must have basic competitive skills to become a Whitecap. There is a Junior Whitecap program for those who like to swim but have not yet learned competitive skills.
